IMF relief is transitory, we should not beat the drums of delight: Khawaja Saad Rafiq

ISLAMABAD, Aug 31 (Online): Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq has said IMF relief is temporary and it is not such that we should beat drums of delight.

“ PTI members were busy in sabotaging the IMF agreement. India was also doing this job. The party which is controlling four governments is engaged in devilish activities. Giving response to the politics of this party has become compulsion. Running the state is not job of conspirators. Plan will be placed before the nation soon in consultation with the coalition partners”, he said this while addressing a joint press conference with Advisor to PM Qamar Zaman Kaira here Wednesday.

Citing to devastation caused by the flood, he said this flood has broken the record of flood which had hit in 2010. It has caused massive destruction.

This nation has been facing such calamities, he held. This flood has broken the back. Next phase is highly disastrous. Inflation is seen to be rising. Philanthropists and people should contribute, he appealed.

Railway has suffered heavy loss, he indicated. 15 inch water is flowing near Nawab Shah. A train carrying relief goods has left Turkey for Pakistan.

We were striving to prevent Pakistan from becoming Sri Lanka and they were trying to block IMF plan, he claimed. Contempt of court should not be allowed.

Is hurling threats on officers is not contempt of state, he questioned.

Speaking on the occasion, Adviser to PM Qamar Zaman Kaira said armed forces, civilian institutions, welfare organization and all relevant authorities are fully focused on relief and rescue of flood-affected people.
He said political point scoring at this critical juncture is highly regrettable.
KP government alleged that federal government did not provide funds to KP government and today Rs 10 billion have been given, he remarked.
