IHC stops special committee from initiating proceedings against son of former CJP

ISLAMABAD, May 31 (Online): Islamabad High Court (IHC) has stopped the special committee constituted to probe into audio leaks to initiate proceedings against son of former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar.

The petition filed against formation of special committee came up for hearing before a single bench of IHC led by Justice Babar Sattar here Wednesday.

During the hearing of the case Justice Babar Sattar questioned is it a special committee.

Lawyer Latif Khosa replied the same rules will be for special committee which are for ordinary committee.

The court while addressing Latif Khosa said you will have to make concerned ministry a party.

Latif Khosa replied there is no respective ministry in this matter. Even then we will make. We have challenged only this that speaker and assembly are not authorized to see the private matter.

What matter is pending hearing in Supreme Court (SC) we have not challenged it, he stated. Audio leak is alleged conversation made between two private persons. Parliament is not authorized to see the matters of private people.

Later the court stopped the special committee from initiating proceedings against son of former CJP Saqib Nisar.

The court also suspended call up notice issued by special committee of parliament to Najam Saqib.

Justice Babar Sattar also removed the objections raised by registrar office on the petition.
The court issued notice to federal government for June 19.
