IHC orders to remove name of Zartaj Gul from ECL

ISLAMABAD, June 26 (Online): Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered to remove name of Zartaj Gul, parliamentary leader of Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) from ECL.

The court remarked these are false allegations. All are bailable and they put the name in ECL. Now name is being removed. We will next summon those also who accord approval.

These remarks were given by the court during the hearing of the petition seeking removal of name of SIC parliamentary leader Zartaj Gul from ECL.

Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri heard the case Wednesday.

Assistant Attorney General (AAG) appeared in the court. The record of FIR was presented.

Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri remarked in report name of Zartaj Gul is recorded in 2 FIRs. You don’t put the name of terrorists. Members of assembly are coming in the court. I will summon IG in the court and ask one political leader holds rally and you put the name in ECL. No case of any gang or terrorists has come to me. If there is any one to ask them. Those who recommend to place name in ECL also fear.

The court inquired what cases stand against her.

The counsel Usama Tariq advocate said replies were filed in cases No 340 and 567, The miscellaneous petition was fixed in the court today in urgent.

The court inquired are there only two cases. She is on bail in both of the cases.

The counsel told yes she is on bail in both of the cases.

The court remarked the allegations are false and all are bailable. Name is placed in ECL. Name is being removed now.

The court ordered assistant attorney general to remove name within a week from ECL and submit report thereof.
