ISLAMABAD: Secretary Housing & Works, Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Mahmood, accompanied by Director General Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA), Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, conducted a detailed visit to various FGEHA sectors, including G-14, G-15/3 and F-14/F-15.
Relevant Directors, Project Directors, Deputy Commissioner (LAC) and technical staff were also present on the occasion.
The Director Land and other concerned officers briefed the Secretary Housing in detail on land acquisition, possession, development works and provision of basic civic amenities.
During his visit to G-14/2-3, the Secretary Housing inspected the recently acquired land and possession obtained by FGEHA. He directed that effective and timely measures be taken for the provision of electricity, gas, roads, horticulture, rainwater harvesting and other basic civic facilities.
He further directed that the tendering process for the development works in G-14/1 be completed at the earliest. Regarding the unauthorized mosques established in G-14/2-3, he directed that their legal status be clarified in coordination with the Auqaf Department.
During the visit to G-15/3, the Secretary Housing directed that illegal encroachments be removed at the earliest in accordance with the law. He also directed that measures for connecting the main roads with G-14 and improving connectivity with G.T. Road be completed on a priority basis.
He emphasized the installation of streetlights along major roads and appropriate street signboards at suitable locations.
Reviewing the ongoing development works in F-14/F-15, the Secretary Housing directed that effective measures be incorporated for rainwater drainage, water flow management and future water management requirements.
He directed the construction of check dams at suitable locations along nullahs, conservation of rainwater and introduction of modern rainwater harvesting systems to prevent wastage of water and help improve the groundwater table.
He further directed that possession of the remaining plots be obtained at the earliest and that development works affected or delayed due to recent rains be completed without further delay. He also directed that an appropriate design and plan for the F-14 entrance gate be prepared in accordance with modern urban planning standards.
Later, an important meeting was held at the FGEHA Headquarters to make the Green Enclave-I Project viable and to explore practical, effective and cost-effective solutions to the issues being faced by the project.
The meeting was attended by the General Manager, NESPAK; Project Director, Green Enclave-I; Mohsin Sardar; and other concerned officers.
The Secretary Housing & Works constituted a team comprising the Joint Engineering Adviser, Ministry of Housing & Works; Director Technical, FGEHA; Project Director, Green Enclave-I; and General Manager, NESPAK, and directed the team to formulate comprehensive recommendations within two days for resolving the issues and proposing feasible solutions for the project.
The team will review the technical, financial and administrative aspects of the project and propose viable and cost-effective options for its effective progression.
On the occasion, Director General FGEHA, Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, stated that all development activities under FGEHA projects would be completed in accordance with the prescribed targets to ensure the provision of better, safe and quality residential facilities to federal government employees.
