Hearing of contempt of court case against police officers for not escorting Pervaiz Elahi to home adjourned

LAHORE, January 22 (Online): Lahore High Court (LHC) has adjourned for indefinite period the hearing of contempt of court petition against police officers for not escorting former Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi safely to his home and arresting him.
The hearing has been adjourned on the lawyers request for giving time to present arguments.

A two members bench of LHC presided over by Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry heard the appeal plea filed by Qaisra Elahi wife of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi Monday.

It was taken plea through the appeal that high court ordered for not arresting the husband of appellant. Single bench announced the decision against the law and wrapped up petition.

The petitioner took the plea high court ordered DIG Operation and DIG Investigation to escort Pervaiz Elahi to his home safely. But the police arrested him on the way due to ill intent of these two officers. The two officers have committed contempt of court. Therefore, contempt of court proceedings be initiated against them.
