Govt, opposition fail to send names to the president for appointment of Chairman NAB

ISLAMABAD, Dec 27 (Online): Government and opposition have failed to send nameS for the appointment of new chairman of NAB even after 2 weeks of writing of a letter by the president to them.

The three major opposition parties have proposed three separate names but they have not reached consensus names for sending to the president.

On the other hand government has decided to send the name to president after opposition sends their names.

The sitting chairman NAB Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal will continue to work till that time.

Sources said government is waiting for sending of a name by the opposition to the president regarding appointment of chairman NAB.

PPP, PML-N and JUI-F have presented their name in steering committee. Steering committee has failed to agree on three names for sending to the president.

JUI-F has proposed name of Justice (Retd) Dost Muhammad Khan, PML-N has given name of Nasir Saeed Khosa, Suleman Siddique and Irfan Qadir while PPP has come up with the name of former foreign secretary Jalil Abbas Jillani. PPP has also proposed name of a former judge too. Opposition leader has to send 3 names to the president among under consideration names.

Owing to differences among the opposition parties, the incumbent chairman is continuing his office.

Opposition will again made consultations on the names for chairman NAB during the ongoing National Assembly session. The government will send the name to the president after opposition sends the names.
