ISLAMABAD, May 22 (Online): Federal government has filed petition in Supreme Court (SC) requesting that court should review its April 04 decision in connection with Punjab election.
The federal government has taken plea in its reply with reference to petition filed by Election Commission (EC) that constitutional responsibility for holding fair and free election lies with EC. SC made EC ineffective by giving date for polls by itself.
If election is held in Punjab Assembly earlier then National Assembly polls are feared to be affected. Punjab is province which holds seats more than all others. The victory in Punjab determines who will rule in centre.
The election in Punjab should be held simultaneously with National Assembly.
