Govt buying votes for Senate elections: PPP

ISLAMANBAD – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) yesterday alleged that federal government was buying votes for the upcoming Senate polls. PPP Secretary Information Faisal Karim Kundi said the government had no trust in treasury members who were likely to vote for the opposition. “Prime Minister Imran Khan wants open voting because he knows the PTI (Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf) members will vote for opposition in Senate polls,” Kundi said in a statement. The PPP leader said the popularity of the government had been exposed in the bye-polls as people voted for the opposition parties.

He said if the constitution was amended on the desires of Imran Khan then it would be strongly resisted. He said that the procedure to hold Senate elections was very clear in the constitution. Kundi said that Imran Khan wanted to “induct his ATMs in the Senate.” He said that the PPP had always been of the opinion that Imran Khan was an undemocratic and apolitical person and now he had been exposed within his own party.
