ISLAMABAD – Pakistan People’s Party yesterday claimed that the federal government stood exposed before the public amid the growing inflation and price hike. PPP Secretary General Nayyar Bokahri said Prime Minister Imran Khan had no moral authority to remain in power.
“The people are being oppressed by the government. They are finding it hard to make both ends meet,” he said in a statement.
Bokhari, a former Senate chairman, said even the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf lawmakers had started to leave Imran Khan due to government’s “failed policies.”
He said Prime Minister Imran Khan should resign in an ‘honourable way’ or the Pakistan Democratic Movement will force him out.
“Imran Khan should submit his resignation as the demand for his resignation is no more only the opposition’s demand but it has now become a demand of the government members as well,” he maintained.

The PPP demand comes as its candidate Yousaf Raza Gillani, backed by the PDM, won against government’s nominee Abdul Hafeez Sheikh in the Senate polls last week.
Some treasury members of the National Assembly voted secretly for opposition candidate Yousaf Raza Gillani in the Senate polls, embarrassing the federal government.
Gilani, a former Prime Minister, won the Islamabad seat securing 169 votes against government’s nominee Abdul Hafeez Sheikh’s 164.
Since the electoral college for the Islamabad seat was the National Assembly, PM Khan decided to take a vote of confidence to prove his majority. He needed at least 172 votes to survive. The PM eventually secured 188 votes.
