Islamabad, Jan 3 (Online): A fraud of billions of rupees is taking place in the name of health cards and after the health card drama, one hospital has started building three hospitals.
The Chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Noor Alam Khan has said that due to the health card system, the State Life Insurance will weakened. The chairman committee also directed to provide a fact sheet regarding the current situation of State Life Corporation.
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has called for a report on the matter of selling the properties owned by the government of Pakistan in foreign countries.
The committee has also directed to provide details of the corruption in the guise of health card and the losses caused to the State Life Insurance Corporation.
The meeting of the committee was held in Parliament House under the chairmanship of Chairman Noor Alam Khan.
Apart from the committee members, the Auditor General and other officials, including the Commerce Secretary, participated in the meeting. The audit objections of Commerce Division for 2019-20 were reviewed.
During the meeting, on the issue of installing additional phone connections in the Ministry of Commerce, the audit officials said that the Federal Minister of Commerce and the Secretary have installed 7 phone connections in their offices.
He said that seven connections were installed from 2015 to 2018.
Birjees Tahir, a member of the committee, said that seven connections were installed by the Minister’s Office and five connections were given to Secretary.
He asked to explain these connections, on this Secretary of Commerce said that the green line can be placed anywhere and there are three green lines in it.
He said that these connections are given to PS, Director to Federal Minister and Federal Minister.
On this occasion, Chairman PAC inquired how many numbers the federal minister has at present, to which the audit officials said that there are currently seven connections.
Chairman PAC said that Rs 756,000 is due to the secretary of commerce in terms of telephone bills, which should also be recovered, on which the secretary of commerce said that there are two lines at my house at the moment, two lines are official in the office and one line is with the staff and it’s a fax line.
On which the audit officials said that more than the number of phone lines allowed are given in the office of the Secretary of Commerce.
On this occasion, Chairman PAC said that I did not availed any additional phone line connection, and I got only one diplomatic passport.
During the meeting, Chairman PAC said that he received information from Thailand that the Ministry of Commerce has not responded on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
He asked the commerce secretary to ask the commercial attachés about their performance.
On which the Commerce Secretary said that talks are going on between the two countries on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
Officials of the cabinet division also participated in the PAC meeting. On this occasion, Chairman Committee Noor Alam Khan said that no property of the government of Pakistan should be sold.
