Initially, there was a dispute between the FBR and cellular mobile operators (CMOs), with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) also opposing the FBR’s action. However, the PTA later chose not to take a stance on the issue.
An FBR spokesperson announced on Thursday that as of May 22, 2024, the FBR had blocked 11,252 SIMs of non-filers.
