ISLAMABAD, Jan 25 (Online): Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has sent letters to governors of Punjab and KP in connection with polling date.
In the letter sent to governor Punjab, ECP has proposed to fix date for holding polls between April 09 to 13. Governor KP has been asked to fix date for holding election between April 15 to 17.
Secretary ECP Umar Hamid has said in the letter Punjab Assembly was dissolved on January 14 while KP assembly was dissolved on January 18. It is binding on governor to give date for holding polls within 90 days of dissolution of assembly.
It has been said in the letter 90 days of Punjab assembly start from January 14. No date can be set after April 13 for Punjab assembly polls.
90 days of KP assembly start from January 18 and polling date for holding polls in respect of KP assembly cannot be set after April 17.
It has been said that in the letter that Election Commission needs 54 days for completing election program.
