ECP decides to take action against 60 officers for rigging in Daska by-election

Islamabad-January 13 (Online): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to take action against 60 officers for their involvement in the rigging in the Daska by-election.

According to media report, the ECP will investigate corrupt practices of 60 officers, including DRO and 27 presiding officers. It has decided to take action against seven SHOs.

Actions will be taken against Sialkot former DC Zeeshan Ahmed Lashari, Sialkot former DPO Hassan Asad, Daska former AC and the Sambrial former DSP. Action has also been decided against officers of the Education Department. Returning officer and district returning officer are also named in the involvement of corrupt practices.

Eight education officers and police constables have been also declared involved in the illegal activities. The ECP has recommended disciplinary action against all officers as well as not to appoint them on duty again.
