LAHORE, MARCH 13 (ONLINE): Lahore High Court (LHC) has rejected plea of Hamid Raza head of Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) for issuing stay order in connection with reserved seats. The petition filed by Sahibzada Hamid Raza head of SIC against not giving reserved seats to them came up for hearing before single bench of LHC led by Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal Wednesday.
The court while rejecting the plea of the petitioner for issuing stay order on new schedule of Election Commission (EC) on reserved seats has given time to Punjab and federal governments to file written reply. The court questioned from the Advocate General (AG) Punjab has Punjab government reply come in the application.
The counsel for the petitioner Hamid Raza requested the court this matter is of important nature. Therefore, stay order be given on this matter. Justice Chaudhry Iqbal remarked let the reply come. We see it.
AG Punjab requested time be given to us for filing reply. Some members have taken oath on reserved seats. We will file reply to the extent of other seats.
The court while adjourning the hearing of the case rejected SIC head plea for granting stay order on new schedule of EC with regard to reserved seats. On previous hearing LHC had issued notice to the respondents on the petition filed by SIC against not allotting reserved seats to them. Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal had heard the petition filed by Sahibzada Hamid Raza.
