EC adjourns hearing of contempt of EC case

ISLAMABAD, Nov 13 (Online): Election Commission (EC) has adjourned hearing of contempt of EC case against PTI chairman Imran Khan, Fawad

Chaudhry and Asad Umar till December 6.
Interior secretary presented written report for not presenting Imran Khan before EC.

A four members bench of EC presided over by Member Nisar Durrani heard the contempt of EC case against Imran Khan, Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhry on Monday.

Interior secretary Aftab Durrani appeared in EC. Junior lawyer of chairman PTI also appeared in EC.

He told EC counsel for chairman PTI is engaged in Supreme Court. We request for adjournment of the case or hearing be adjourned for some time.

Member commission said if counsel has to come then all right because we have too to hear delimitation of constituencies.

Member commission said if there are security concerns then we can notify hearing in jail.
Interior secretary said if you want to go to jail then you can notify. We allow that hearing be held in jail.

Interior Secretary presented report in EC for not presenting Chairman PTI before EC due to security concerns.

Member commission said can we notify hearing in jail and does the law allow it.

Interior secretary said if you want to hold hearing in jail then we notify it. We can seek opinion from law ministry in this regard.

Later Shoaib Shaheen counsel for PTI appeared before EC.

He told permission has been given to meet chairman PTI once. Taking paper and pencil is not allowed to bring during meeting.

He said commission should issue proper order on the matter.

Member commission Nisar Durrani said we ourselves go to Adiala jail
The counsel said we are not being accorded permission to hold public meeting.
Counsel for Fawad Chaudhry told the EC Fawad Chaudhry is in judicial custody.

Member commission inquired he is in which jail
The counsel said he is in Adiala jail.
The commission adjourned the hearing till December 6.
