Don’t accept long electricity bill with several taxes, Senator Mushtaq

MARDAN, Sep 2 (Online): Jamaat-e-Islami provincial chief, Senator Mushtaq Ahmed said that the unit of electricity is Rs 52 in August and it will become Rs 90 per unit in the month of September. Our battle is long and decisive against the rulers.

He expressed these views while addressing a public rally in front of Pesco office at Muqam Chowk. Large numbers of JI workers attended the public rally arranged in connection with the price hike. The participants of the rally chanted slogans against the government and price hike. Addressing the public rally Mushtaq Ahmed said that we do not accept this economic terrorism.

He added that we don’t accept the long electricity bill and several taxes. He added that General Sajjad Ghani is the chairman of WAPDA. He argued that General Sajjad Ghani issued a notification that installed his portrait with the portrait of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Janah in all the WAPDA offices. He added that he also spoke in this connection on the floor of the senate.

He said that in August the general sent an electricity bill with 52 rupee unit and several taxes and in September he will send an electricity bill with 90 rupee unit and several taxes. Now he asked the general where they installed his portrait. Mushtaq Ahmed said that now the looting system will not work. The elite Republic of Pakistan will not last. One percent republic will not work. Heavy electricity and gas bills will not work.

He argued that incompetent rulers are collecting eleven types of taxes from poor people in electricity bills. He added that there are 75 electricity independent companies IPPs were established in the country on the name of foreign investors. He added that these IPPS are a great fraud with the poor people of the country. He argued that these private companies are PPP, PML-N and MQM. He argued that we cannot accept these IPPs.

He argued that as long as there are IPPs and agreements with them, electricity cannot be cheap in Pakistan. He demanded that the agreement should be canceled with these IPPs. He added that our province produces 5000 megawatt electricity on 2.50 rupees per unit while it needs 2000
megawatt while instead of 2000 megawatt 1300 megawatt electricity were given to our province. He added that electricity is purchased at 2.50 rupees per unit while it is sold to us at 52 rupees per unit. He added that we cannot accept this injustice. He added that the masses of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa are not ready to purchase electricity from the government on 52 rupee unit. He added that we have electricity and we have authority.

He argued that currently, Islamabad owes our province 1600 billion rupees of electricity. He argued that if the government does not give me our province loan, then give relief in electricity bills. He added that we are slaves of the IMF because the permission of IMF our rulers cannot give relief to the masses. Meanwhile the business community of Mardan district observed partially shatter down strike against the inflated electricity bills and rising inflation.
