ISLAMABAD, January 23 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) has summoned former deputy speaker National Assembly (NA) Qasim Suri in person on next hearing in disqualification case.
The court while directing Qasim Suri to file reply himself with his signatures has sought reply from SC registrar.
A 3-member bench of SC presided over by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa took up the cased pertaining to alleged rigging by Qasim Suri in election for hearing Tuesday.
The CJP remarked Qasim Suri enjoyed the entire term of assembly by obtaining stay order. Now he is saying assembly has ended therefore case has become in-fructuous. Have you used some tactics for not getting the case fixed in SC. We are stopping this all what hands have worn on what case should be fixed and what case should not be fixed in SC.
The SC while issuing notice to registrar SC on not fixing case of Qasim Suri and maintaining stay order has sought report within three weeks.
The court also issued notice to Lashkari Raesani, rival of Qasim Khan Suri.
The court while directing registrar office to file inquiry report within three weeks adjourned the hearing of the case for one month.
It is pertinent to mention here that Qasim Suri was alleged to have won election through rigging in 1918.
Lashkari Raeesani of BNP while challenging victory of the then deputy speaker National Assembly Qasim Suri from NA-265 in general election 2018 had filed petition seeking probe into rigging in the respective constituency.
Upon it Election Tribunal (ET) had annulled the election and ordered to hold election again.
Qasim Suri had challenged this decision in SC.
The then CJP Umar Ata Bandial had rejected ET decision and had restored Qasim Suri to his office of deputy speaker besides issuing stay order against re-election.
