ISLMABAD April 03 (Online): Deputy Speaker National Assembly (NA) did not even follow the “the order of the day” issued by the Secretary National Assembly on Sunday.
According to the order of the day, today was the deadline for voting on no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan which was submitted by the Leader of Opposition Shehbaz Sharif.
Rule 37(8) of the National Assembly Rules of Procedure which clearly states that, after the leave is granted to move the no confidence motion, the Assembly shall not be prorogued until the No-confidence resolution is voted upon.
Speaker of the NA was absent and the session was chaired by the Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri, during the session Deputy Speaker adjourned the session while giving the ruling to reject the no-confidence motion.
Voting on no-confidence motion was not held, which was included in the order of the day.
Member Penal of Chairperson of National Assembly, Ayyaz Sadiq later in the absence of Speaker and Deputy Speaker chaired session to hold voting in accordance with the National Assembly Rules of Procedure.
Voting was held on no-confidence motion, passed against Prime Minister Imran Khan with 196 votes, while being the Caretaker Speaker Ayyaz Sadiq did not cast his own vote on the motion.
