ISLAMABAD, Mar 09 (APP):Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Monday said Pakistan is conducting operations against militant hideouts inside Afghanistan, acting on credible intelligence reports against groups responsible for attacks in the country.
In a conversation with foreign publications, Tarar emphasized that Pakistan has not targeted any civilian areas in Afghanistan.
He stated that the actions are directed at militant sanctuaries within Afghan territory, targeting groups involved in cross-border attacks against Pakistan.
The minister said Pakistan is striking only terrorist infrastructure and their support networks. He dismissed figures presented by the Afghan Taliban regime as imaginary and not worthy of serious consideration.
Tarar said claims of battlefield successes against Pakistan made by Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defence spokesperson were incorrect and amount to mere propaganda.
He rejected reports issued by the Afghan Taliban regime and the United Nations (UN) mission in Afghanistan regarding civilian casualties, adding that the information released by the UN agency in Kabul relies entirely on inputs from the Taliban government.
He noted that joint attacks carried out by the Afghan Taliban and terrorists of Fitna al-Khawarij confirm collusion between the Taliban government and several terrorist organisations operating from Afghan soil.
Tarar said all attacks launched by the Afghan Taliban regime were met with immediate and effective response. He added that Pakistan precisely targeted terrorists and their facilitators, including Afghan Taliban military posts.
