Court accepts acquittal pleas of Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi

ISLAMABAD, May 20 (Online): District and Sessions Court has given relief to PTI founder Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi in a case registered in Karachi Company police station. Their acquittal pleas have been accepted. The acquittal pleas of PTI founder, Zartaj Gul, Ali Nawaz Awan and Faisal Javed have been accepted in one other case.
Acquittal plea of Shah Mehmood Qureshi,Khurram Nawaz, Shireen Mazari Saif Ullah Niazi and Asad Umar has been accepted.

Judicial magistrate Mureed Abbas announced reserved decision on acquittal plea. Earlier Judicial magistrate had reserved judgment on acquittal pleas of Imran Khan and other leaders in the cases registered in Karachi company police station against them.
Judicial magistrate Mureed Abbas Khan heard the acquittal pleas of Imran Khan, Faisal Javed, Ali Nawaz Awan, Saifullah Niazi, Zartaj Gul and Asad Umar Monday.

Counsels Naeem Panjutha, Sardar Masroof and Amna Ali appeared in the court and gave arguments on acquittal pleas. Asad Umar, Saifullah Niazi appeared in the court. Exemption pleas of Faisal Javed and Zrtaj Gul were filed Counsel Naeem Panjutha said Imran Khan is facing allegation of section 109 that it was done at his behest. The authority to register case lies with the person who imposed section 144.
Naeem Panjotha argued FIR was got registered by unauthorized person. How can the case go ahead of which the base is wrong.

He further argued that even no video evidence could be presented to the extent of Imran Khan. FIRs were registered on peaceful protest too.Naeem Panjutha took the plea 19 cases of the same nature are registered against PTI founder in different police stations. The courts have acquitted Imran Khan in the cases of this nature.

He further argued the court can acquit accused persons if the allegations which are leveled are baseless. The cases against Imran Khan were of the nature of political victimization.

He told the court that peaceful protest was staged on Imran Khan call. The trees caught fire due to shelling and no worker was behind the fire.

Sardar Masroof while giving arguments said registration of FIR by incompetent authority is against the law. Case cannot be run on against the law FIR. The order of Islamabad High Court is there.

Counsel Sardar Masroof said that court should acquit Imran Khan and others with honor.

The court reserved the judgment on completion of arguments.

Later the court while announcing the decision accepted acquittal pleas.
