Containers placed on GT road, motorway to avert PTI long march

Attock, May 24, 2022 (Online): In a bid to stop the long march of the ousted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the local administration in Attock and Taxila in collaboration with Police and other law enforcement agencies have blocked the GT road and Islamabad-Peshawar motorway (M-1) at several points.

In Attock, Islamabad-Peshawar motorway (M-1) was closed for public at Chach, Ghazi, Burhan interchanges. Moreover shipping containers were placed on river Indus bridge Khushhalgarh bridge on Attock-Kohat road and river Haro bridge near Burhan interchange to avert the entry of the participants of the long march from KP to Punjab.

Commuters were seen stuck in the traffic jam and in some places ambulances carrying patients were also seen horns to get some place but in vain.

Commuters including women and children were seen crossing under shipping containers at Haro bridge and Khushhalgarh bridge while carrying their luggage. Moreover, sources privy to the government’s strategy to deal with the protest list of over 160 prominent PTI leaders of Attock has handed over to law enforcers to be picked and sent behind bars so they could not led the march. Sources said that list has been forwarded to relevant police stations by the RPO office and respective sub divisional police officers have been told to monitor the crackdown.

Police have raided the houses of other PTI key leaders in Attock, however, they were not able to arrest any of the leaders. Police raided at the house of Major (retd) Thair Sadiq- the PTI member national assembly in Attock but he skipped the arrest.
