Closure of roads due to dharna: IHC summons IG Police Islamabad

ISLAMABD, NOV 14 (Online): Islamabad High Court (IHC) while summoning IG Islamabad on next hearing in case related to blockage of roads due to dharna has ordered that a detailed report be presented.

A single bench of IHC led by Chief Justice (CJ) IHC Aamer Farooq took up the case for hearing Monday.

Joint secretary of interior ministry Shabbir Khattak appeared in the court.

The court remarked motorway is subject. Why does the federal government not get open motorway.
AAG told the court law and order is provincial government SUBJECT. Therefore, it is closed.

The court remarked protest is staged outside parliament then why do you close it. The containers are lying in entire Islamabad as if the situation is FAR different here. Why don’t you form a good right force. Why do you place container. Why do you not use some other procedure instead of placing containers.

Sardar Umar Aslam advocate appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioners.

It was said in the petition that protests are being staged from the change of government in April till now. Azadi March, dharna and the roads were closed under the directives of leadership. The citizens and traders are facing difficulties. The fundamental rights are being affected.

It was prayed in the petition that government be directed to ensure smooth flow on traffic on roads particularly motorway. It should be made binding on PTI that it should hold dharna and publi meeting outside Islamabad.

The hearing of the case was adjourned till November 17.
