Cipher case: Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi kept on playing hide and seek for delay in the case: Special court

ISLAMABAD, Feb 01 (Online): Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain of special court established under official secret act has issued detailed judgment in Cipher case.
The court has announced 10 years sentence in jail each to Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi in cipher case.

77-page detailed decision has said PTI founder did not return cipher to ministry of foreign affairs. The cipher matter affected our relations with other countries which benefited the enemies of country.

It was said in the decision that defence counsels looked non serious during the hearing of the case. The accused kept on playing hide and seek for delay in the case.

According to decision 17 months investigation proved that cipher case was not filed late.

During the hearing Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi told self-made worries during the hearing and they tried to become helpless in order to win sympathies. Sentence of 2 years in jail and fine of Rs 10 lac was also awarded to Imran Khan under section 5-3B of official secret act. Fine of Rs 10 lac each was also imposed on Imran Khan under different clauses.
Sentence of 10 years in jail was also awarded to Imran Khan under section 53/A. Fine was also imposed on Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
The evidence presented in the court are irrefutable.

it has been said in the court’s order that what is trouble some that Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Q ureshi changed several lawyers. Opportunities for their defence were given to the accused several time in high profile and sensitive case. The accused played hide and seek and considered the proceedings joke.

As per decision both the accused don’t deserve for any concession due to their acts to affect the process of cross questioning. No one can be allowed to plague Pakistan relations with any other country.
