Ban on airing Imran Khan Speeches: Court directs to attach copy of electronic media code of ethics

LAHORE, May 16 (Online): Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed to attach codes of ethics of electronic media along with the petition filed against imposition of ban on airing Imran Khan Speeches despite court orders

The petition came up hearing before a single bench of LHC led by Justice Shamas Mehmood Mirza Tuesday.

Barrister Ahmed Pensoota, while giving arguments, took the stance providing air time to political parties on basis of equality is legal requirement.

LHC had suspended the notification regarding slapping ban on airing Imran Khan Speeches.

The court directed PEMRA not to slap restrictions on broadcasting the speeches.

Council for imran Khan said, Imran Khan Speeches are being prevented from airing despite court orders.

Defiance of court orders is contempt of court.

Barrister Ahmed Pansoota prayed the court to get implement court decision on abolishing restrictions on broadcasting the speeches.

The court should initiate contempt of court proceeding against the persons found responsible.

The hearing of the case was adjourned till May 27
