Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has paid rich tribute to the martyrs and ghazis of the 1965 war, saying that the brave soldiers of the Pakistan Armed Forces rendered matchless sacrifices for the defence of the motherland and demonstrated exceptional courage, bravery and professionalism.
The NA Speaker said that during the 1965 war, Pakistan’s forces confronted a much larger enemy force with courage and determination, defeated it on every front and foiled its nefarious designs against Pakistan.
Ayaz Sadiq said the unity and solidarity demonstrated by the Pakistani nation during the 1965 war, when people stood firmly alongside their armed forces, represented a glorious chapter in the country’s history.
He expressed these views in his message on Defence Day, observed every year with national spirit to pay tribute to the martyrs and ghazis of the 1965 war.
Ayaz Sadiq said the Pakistan Armed Forces demonstrated extraordinary courage, bravery, professional competence and patriotism during the 1965 war and shattered the arrogance of the enemy.
The NA Speaker said the martyrs were the true heroes of the nation who sacrificed their today for the bright and safe future of the country. The nation, he added, would always remember their great sacrifices with the utmost respect and reverence.
Paying tribute to the exceptional courage, bravery and professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces during Marka-e-Haq, Ayaz Sadiq said that, under the leadership of Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the forces effectively thwarted the enemy’s nefarious designs.
He said the nation and the armed forces once again demonstrated Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interests.
He said the steadfastness and national unity demonstrated by the people while standing shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistan Armed Forces during Marka-e-Haq reflected the strong bond of trust between the nation and the armed forces.
Ayaz Sadiq said that under the leadership of Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s armed forces played a significant role not only in safeguarding the country’s defence and security but also in promoting peace and stability in the region.
Referring to the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, the NA Speaker said the agreement reflected a shared commitment to mutual defence cooperation, regional security and peace.
He reiterated that Pakistan desired peace and would continue to play a positive role in promoting sustainable peace, stability and cooperation in the region through enhanced defence cooperation.
Ayaz Sadiq also paid tribute to the officers and soldiers of the armed forces who had rendered great sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
He said their determination and resolve to eliminate the menace of terrorism was a matter of great pride for the nation.
He added that successful operations against terrorist elements reflected the unwavering commitment of the security forces to protecting the lives and property of the people and safeguarding the sovereignty of the state.
Ayaz Sadiq said the armed forces of Pakistan had not only rendered sacrifices during wars against the country’s enemies but had always remained at the forefront whenever the nation faced a crisis or difficult situation.
He said that during natural disasters, brave personnel of the armed forces had risked their lives to assist affected people and protect their lives and property.
Ayaz Sadiq prayed to Allah Almighty for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs and for peace, security, progress and prosperity in the country.
