ATC removes terrorism clauses from case against senior journalist Mohsin Jamil Baig

ISLAMABAD, June 21 (Online): Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) has abolished the terrorism clauses in the case against the senior journalist Mohsin Jamil Baig besides shifting the case to district and sessions court Islamabad

The case came up for hearing before ATC Islamabad Roon No 2 led by judge Raja Jawad Tuesday.

Mohsin Jamil Baig appeared in the court with his counsel Latif Khosa.

At the inception of hearing Latif Khosa advocate told the court in his arguments terrorism clauses cannot be applied in this case. FIR is registered at 9 a.m in Lahore on February 16. At 9.30 a.m FIA reaches Islamabad by using superonic. When FIA personnel reach Islamabad they don’t take the Islamabad Police on board in connection with arrest.

The FIR personnel enter into my home forcibly in plain clothes. They don’t show arrest warrants when they are asked to show them. Those who enter into home forcibly without arrest warrants can be dacoits.

Self protection is fundamental right of every citizen. But terrorism case was instituted against us. No one was injured in this incident and no one even received a single scratch. Baseless case has been instituted.

Latif Khosa told the court in his arguments that additional judge had declared raid from police and FIA illegal. He had written in his decision that police and FIA transgressed their powers. Arrest without warrants is nowhere in any law.

The law officer told the court we withdraw the terrorism clauses from this case.

The court directed investigation officer of Islamabad police that he should file his written reply in the court.

The court while abolishing the terrorism clauses from the case against senior journalist Mohsin Jamil Baig transferred the case to district and sessions court Islamabad.
