ISLAMABAD – February 4 (ONLINE): Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Umar Atta Bandial said Friday that armed forces in Pakistan play very important role and are held in high esteem as they lay down their lives for national cause of the country.
According to details, Chief Justice of the apex court was talking to a 49 member delegation of Command and Staff College Quetta, which called on Chief Justice of Pakistan as a part of their study tour.
Country’s chief judge welcomed delegation and gave them an overview of the Constitution of 1973 of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
According to details, the Chief Justice of Pakistan informed the visiting delegation about the distribution of power in Pakistan, functions and importance of each organ of the State that is, Parliament, Executive and Judiciary.
Chief Justice of Pakistan briefed the delegation on working of judicial system and constitutional jurisdiction of Supreme Court, and lower courts to provide relief to the people.
He explained that Supreme Court, under constitutional scheme, possesses special jurisdiction of the judicial review to examine certain acts of legislative and executive organs of the State on criterion provided in the Constitution.
He further explained that Armed forces in Pakistan play very important role and are held in high esteem as they lay down their lives for national cause of the country.
They are also regulated under constitutional provisions and are called to act in aid of civilian democratic institutions under special circumstances like flood, earthquakes.
At the end, delegation presented a shield to the Chief Justice as token of remembrance and gesture of goodwill. Chief Justice of Pakistan reciprocated the same by presenting a shield to them.
