Another petition filed in SC regarding restoration of Punjab, KP assemblies

ISLAMABAD, April 27 (Online): Another petition has been filed in Supreme Court (SC) for restoration of KP and Punjab assemblies.

Petition has been filed by a citizen Roy Ishtiaq taking the plea caretaker governments have completed their tenure in Punjab and KP. The polls have not been held in both the provinces in the period laid out in the constitution. The SC decision for holding election is also not being implemented. Further stay of the caretaker governments in the respective provinces will be violation of the constitution.

The petitioner has requested the court to order for restoration of elected assemblies of Punjab and KP.

Federal government, Election commission, ministry of defence, caretaker chief ministers, governors of both the provinces, interior ministry and finance ministry have been made respondents in the petition.
