ISLAMABAD, APRIL 08 (ONLINE): Punjab government has filed report about May 9 incident in Supreme Court (SC).
The report says that an institution was attacked on May 9.
It has been told in the report May 9 was not merely protest or rally but it was attack on one institution. May 9 riots caused loss of Rs 19.70 crore in Punjab. 24595 accused of May 9 incident are still absconding.
According to report properties were damaged in 38 cities of Punjab due to vandalizing and riots on May 9. Damage was caused to property valuing Rs 110 million in Lahore. Like wise loss was caused of Rs 28 million in Rawalpindi and in Mianwali loss of Rs 50 million was caused.
Counsel for Punjab government told in the report attack was made on an institution on May 9. May 9 was not only protest or rally but it was attack on one institution.
As per report 319 cases were registered in 38 districts of Punjab in connection with May 9 incident. Number of persons accused in May 9 incident stands at 35962 and 11367 accused are arrested among them.
According to report filed in SC, May 9 violent protest in Punjab led to cause loss of Rs 197.348 million in the entire country. 152 police officers and policemen were injured due to protest on May 9.
