Kabul-December 18 (Online): The Taliban has once again applied for the post of ambassador to the United Nations.
According to foreign media, the ambassador of the former government of Afghanistan has left his seat in the United Nations, after which the Taliban has once again appealed to the United Nations to send its ambassador.
Taliban leader and Taliban nominee for the UN seat, Sohail Shaheen, said the seat should now go to the new Afghan government. It is a matter of UN identity. The current government in Afghanistan is independent.
It should be noted that the Taliban had on September 20 asked the United Nations to recognize Sohail Shaheen as the new envoy to Afghanistan, which was rejected by the United Nations. The Taliban had criticized the United Nations for not recognizing the Afghan envoy to the UN.
The Taliban took power in Afghanistan in August, but have not been recognized by any government.
