Russia approves non-ratification of the CTBT

MOSCOW Oct 25 (Online): The Russian Parliament has approved not to ratify the International Treaty on the Ban on Nuclear Weapons Tests.

According to foreign media reports, the Russian parliament has approved a law to withdraw from the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT).

According to reports, the upper house approved the law by 156 votes to zero, while the lower house also passed it unanimously, and it will now be sent to Russian President Vladimir Putin for his signature.

The Russian president claims that despite signing the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) in 1966, the US has never ratified it.
