429 migrants die in Libya due to hurricanes and floods

TRIPOLI Oct 07 (Online): 429 migrant workers died and 500 workers went missing due to Hurricane Daniel and floods in Libya.

According to the World News Agency, the International Organization for Migration said in a statement that on September 10, an estimated 42,450 people were displaced and many families returned to their homes due to the destruction of the hurricane and flood in the northeast of Libya.

According to the report, 429 laborers have died and 500 migrants have gone missing due to the cyclone between September 10 and 24.

Hurricane Daniel was in the central Mediterranean Sea when it hit eastern Libya on September 10 and caused flooding in the cities of Benghazi, Bayda, Merk, Sousse and Darna.

It should be noted that the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Dabeba, announced a 3-day mourning period across the country on September 11 due to the floods, and the Libyan Presidential Council appealed for help from neighboring countries and international organizations for the flood-affected areas.
