Tokyo – October 9 (Online): Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said on Friday he would do his utmost to lead Japan out of the COVID-19 crisis while protecting its territory and people in an increasingly tough security environment.
However, Kishida, is struggling to find his footing with voters just days after he took the top job and launched his new government, multiple polls by local media showed on Tuesday.
Fumio Kishida took office as the country’s new Prime Minister a week ago, tasked with leading the world’s third-largest economy out of the coronavirus pandemic.
Kishida, 64, who was elected leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), was officially confirmed as the country’s 100th prime minster following a parliamentary vote — his elevation all but a given due to the LDP’s majority in the lower house.
