Former Mexican ambassador to Israel arrested sexual assault charges

MEXICO CITY Oct 03 (Online): Former Mexican diplomat and writer Andres Romer was arrested in Israel on charges of harassing women.

According to the World News Agency, while informing about the arrest of Andres Romer, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said that the former diplomat was arrested in Israel and will be deported.

Israel is likely to extradite the former Mexican diplomat to their country where Andres Roemer will be charged with sexual assault and harassment.

It should be noted that 60-year-old Andres Romer is the Consul General in San Francisco of Mexico and has represented his country at the United Nations Organization UNESCO, while he is also a well-known writer and producer of the country.

Former diplomat Andres Roemer was first accused of sexual assault by famous Mexican dancer Itzal Sinas during the “Me Too” campaign on social media in February 2021, and since then, more than 60 allegations of sexual crimes have come to light.

The women alleged that Andreas Romer had inappropriately touched and made lewd gestures during work, leading some of the women to quit their jobs.

On the other hand, Andreas Romer categorically denied the allegations, terming them baseless, but he went away from social media.

After these accusations, Mexico requested Israel against its own diplomat to deport Andres Romer and send him back to Mexico.
