ISLAMABAD, Jul 22 :A total of 234 lives have been tragically lost across Pakistan, with 596 individuals injured, 826 houses damaged, and 203 livestock perished, as rain-related hazards and flash floods continue to wreak havoc from June 26 onward, according to the latest figures shared by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
NDMA has conducted 62 rescue operations across vulnerable regions of the country, successfully rescuing 450 individuals affected by rain-related hazards and flash floods. In its continued efforts to provide relief, the Authority has distributed 3,349 essential items and established 27 relief and medical camps to serve impacted communities.
NDMA confirms that rescue and relief activities remain ongoing, as it works in close coordination with provincial and local authorities to manage the challenging situation. The season has tested resilience nationwide, and efforts to support affected populations persist.
Sharing updated details on recent rain-related disasters across Pakistan, NDMA has reported that out of the 234 confirmed fatalities since June 26, 79 were men, 42 were women, and 113 were children.
According to region-wise breakdown, Punjab faced the highest number of casualties with 135 lives lost, including 48 men, 24 women, and 63 children. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 56 people were reported dead, comprising 16 men, 10 women, and 30 children. Sindh recorded 24 fatalities, including 9 men, 4 women, and 11 children, while Balochistan reported 16 deaths, with 5 men, 4 women, and 7 children among the deceased.
No loss of life has been reported so far from Gilgit-Baltistan, according to NDMA’s latest update.
Two fatalities have been reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, involving one man and one child. In the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), one child was killed due to heavy rain and flooding.
Providing a breakdown of injuries, the NDMA report noted that 595 people were hurt in rain-related incidents since June 26, including 231 men, 144 women, and 137 children. Punjab witnessed the highest number of injuries, with 470 individuals affected — 189 men, 144 women, and 137 children.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 71 people were injured, comprising 30 men, 13 women, and 28 children. Sindh reported 40 injuries, including seven men, six women, and 27 children.
In Balochistan, four people were injured, among them two men, one woman, and one child.
Gilgit-Baltistan recorded three injuries, including one woman and two children, while Azad Jammu and Kashmir reported eight injuries involving three men, two women, and three children.
NDMA has distributed a total of 3,349 relief items to support communities affected by recent rain-related disasters. Among the supplies were 349 tents, one ration bag, 358 blankets, and 500 sandbags. Additional items included 266 quilts and sleeping bags, 76 mattresses, 554 kitchen sets, and 305 mosquito nets.
The relief package also comprised 41 plastic mats, 25 hygiene kits, 35 jerry cans, 88 tarpaulins, and 59 miscellaneous items. Food support included 153 food packs, while emergency equipment featured 95 dewatering pumps, 10 gabions, 200 charpais, 201 gas cylinders or stoves, 30 life jackets, and three boats.
These supplies were delivered as part of NDMA’s ongoing response to support vulnerable communities across flood-affected regions.
