ISLAMABAD – July 22 (ONLINE) The Asia Cup 2022, which was set to take place in Sri Lanka, has now been shifted to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), media reported.
Previously, the T20 tournament was scheduled in Sri Lanka, but the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SCB) has told the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) that it will not be in a position to host the upcoming edition of the Asia Cup T20 because of the economic and political crisis in the country.
Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) head Sarov Ganguli had announced Thursday that the tournament has been shifted to UAE. “Asia Cup will be in the UAE, as it is the only place where there won’t be rains,” Ganguly told reporters after the Board’s Apex Council meeting here.
