LAHORE 13 July (Online): Pakistan all-rounder, Usama Mir, has joined the Manchester Originals as a replacement player for the upcoming 2023 edition of The Hundred.
Mir replaces Sri Lanka all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, who will be playing the upcoming edition of Lanka Premier League 2023.
The 27-year-old took to Twitter, and expressed his heartfelt thanks for being selected in The Hundred. He shared his excitement and appreciation for the opportunity to showcase his skills on such a grand stage.
“One of my goals for 2023 was to be selected in the @thehundred and I’m so grateful and thankful to be picked. Super excited to get started,” he said.
It is worth noting that Usama Mir represented Worcestershire in the Vitality Blast 2023 and picked up 19 wickets in just 11 matches while maintaining an impressive economy rate of 7.29.
Previously, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf were picked by Welsh Fire in The Hundred draft, which took place on March 23.
The left-arm pacer entered the draft with a reserve price of £100,000, whereas Rauf entered the draft at a reserve price of £60,000.
Meanwhile, Oval Invincibles have selected Multan Sultans’ pacer, Ihsanullah, for £40,000.
Pakistan all-rounder, Shadab Khan, was retained for £100k by Birmingham Phoenix. Shadab will play alongside international cricketers like Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, and Liam Livingstone for Phoenix.
The competition is set to take place from August 1 to 27 this year. Trent Rockets won the men’s competition last year after defeating Manchester Originals in the final match.
