Shadab out, Haris in as Pakistan announces squad for NZ ODIs

ISLAMABAD – January 5 (ONLINE) Injured Shadab Khan was excluded, while middle order batsman Haris Sohail was included as Pakistan on Wednesday announced squad for their One Day Internationals (ODI) series.

Chairman of the Interim Selection Committee Shahid Khan Afridi said Wednesday Shadab Khan wasn’t feeling well due to his figure injury, and his exclusion was decided after consultation.

“I spoke to Shadab this morning, he wasn’t feeling comfortable due to finger injury, that’s why he is not selected for the series against New Zealand,” Shahid Afridi told reporters.

Series’ matches will be played on January 9, 11 and 13 at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi. Three uncapped players, Kamran Ghulam, Tayyab Tahir, Usama Mir are part of the squad.

Opening batter Fakhar Zaman has been included in the squad after recovering from injury while Haris Sohail has also been recalled for the white-ball series. Haris last played an ODI for Pakistan in October 2020.

The squad includes: Babar Azam (c), Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Haris Sohail, Imam-ul-Haq, Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Naseem Shah, Salman Ali Agha, Shahnawaz Dahani, Shan Masood, Tayyab Tahir, Usama Mir.
