London, Sept 7 (AFP/APP): Gonzalo Serrano seized the overall lead in the Tour of Britain on Wednesday after winning a dramatic fourth stage in the north of England.
The Movistar Team rider pipped Britain’s Tom Pidcock (Ineos), Belgian rider Dylan Teuns (Israel — Premier Tech) and Spaniard Omar Fraile (Ineos), to the line following the 149.5-kilometre stage from Redcar to Duncombe Park in Helmsley.
Serrano finished strongest after the quartet broke clear over the climb of Newgate Bank with 8.4 kilometres remaining.
He became the first Spaniard to win a stage of the race for a decade and also took the overall lead.
