Saqlain Mushtaq happy with performance of players in Multan Test

Islamabad, , November,13, (ONLINE): Pakistan head coach Saqlain Mushtaq is satisfied with the performance of the national players in the second Test against England in Multan.

“I am happy with the performance of the national team players in the Multan Test. England’s team depends on experienced players. Pakistani players do not have much experience with the red ball,” said the 45-year-old on a local news channel.

Pakistan on Monday succumbed to a 26-run win in Multan as England took a 2-0 unassailable lead in three-match series.

This is Pakistan’s worst home season since 1959. Babar Azam and his men are also effectively out of running for the World Test Championship (WTC) with this defeat.

The hosts needed 157 more runs when play started on day four in order to complete their second-highest successful run chase and level the series.
Saqlain lauded middle-order batters Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Nawaz for a brilliant partnership in the morning session.

“Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Nawaz cannot be praised enough. Imam-ul-Haq came from the hospital and batted well. I am happy, but unfortunately, the result did not go in our favor,” Saqlain said.

“You either win or learn. I hope the players have learned a lot. We will review the mistakes that have been made,” he stated.
