ISLAMABAD, JAN 13 (online): The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has constituted Sports Commission and Disciplinary Committee to enhance the organization of sports and address disciplinary matters of sports in the country.
In line with the guidelines set by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), POA President Arif Saeed approved the formation of both committees. The decision aligns with the POA’s constitution. The Disciplinary Committee will be chaired by Lieutenant Colonel Nabeel Ahmad Rana, Secretary of the Army Sports Board, with POA Deputy Secretary General Muhammad Jahangir serving as its Secretary.
The members of the Disciplinary Committee includes Pervez Ahmed (Gymnastics Federation), Nazhat Jabeen (Weightlifting Federation), Ejaz Ali (Table Tennis Federation), Professor Ahmed Bilal (Fencing Federation), Sohail Ahmed Khan (Balochistan Olympic Association), Haider Usman Advocate, and Muhammad Imran.
The POA has also established the Sports Commission, which will be headed by Brigadier Mujtaba Haider, Director of the Army Sports Directorate, with POA Secretary General Muhammad Khalid Mahmood serving as the Commission’s Secretary Whie Rizwan ul Haq Razi (Rowing Federation), Fawzi Khawaja (Rugby Union), Ahmed Ali Rajput (Gymnastics Federation), Muhammad Umair Aslam Malik (WAPDA Sports), Tariq Pervez (Bodybuilding Federation), Dr. Shamsa Hashmi (Volleyball Federation), Rana Amjad Iqbal (HEC), and Imran Ahmed will act as the members of the Sports Commission.
The Disciplinary Committee will ensure the protection of athletes and manage all related matters under the established framework. Meanwhile, the POA Sports Commission will have full decision-making authority over the National Games, Inter-Provincial Games, sports development, education programs, and other policies.
