Islamabad – January 3 (ONLINE): Cricket’s professor Muhammad Hafeez on Monday said goodbye to international cricket, with the national and foreign players paying tribute to professor and expressed good wishes for him.
Former South African fast bowler Dale Steyn paid tribute to Mohammad Hafeez on his excellent career and said that he played the game correctly. “You are a great example for the younger generation.” Wrote South Africa’s ‘Steyn Gun’.
Pakistani captain Babar Azam, while sending a message to Hafeez said that a wonderful career has been completed. I got to learn a lot from Hafeez Bhai.
Batsman Fakhar Zaman said described Muhammad Hafees as ‘The most selfless cricketer’. “You were always a helping hand and a well-wisher. The Cricket world will surely miss you. Lots of prayers for you and your second innings” wrote Fakhar Zaman on his twitter handle.
Former captain and veteran allrounder Mohammad Hafeez on Monday announced his retirement from international cricket, adding, however, that he will continue to play in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and other cricket leagues.
The 41-year-old announced his decision at a press conference in Lahore. “I started this journey 18 years ago, and I’m announcing my retirement today,” he said.
“I played for Pakistan due to the pride [I felt]. I didn’t have greed, I didn’t want to earn money, I only played for pride. I have no regrets of any kind. I am completely satisfied [with my career].
“It’s not that physically I can’t play on. I could have played the next World Cup as well but I decided to retire myself.
