ISLAMABAD – July 1 (ONLINE) The mentors of Pakistan Junior League (PJL) will earn more than RS 1 crore each, media reports claimed Friday.
Pakistan Junior League is a project of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and according to media reports, is a brainchild of Chairman Ramiz Raja and it is expected that the league will continue to blossom under his guidance but if he is replaced as PCB chairman, the league’s future might hang in balance.
Legendary Javed Miandad has been appointed as league’s mentors, while West Indies’ Darren Sammy, along with Shoib Malick and Shahid Afridi have been named as teams’ mentors.
A cricket website Cricket Pakistan reported Monday that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has offered $50,000 (Rs. 1 crore) to the mentors for the Pakistan Junior League (PJL) including Javed Miandad, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, and Daren Sammy.
Thus, mentors alone will earn more than Rs. 7 crore from a 2-week event.
The website quoted PCB Media Director Sami Ul Hasan as saying that “the fees being paid to the mentors is a matter which should be only kept between PCB and the mentors.” The report revealed that PCB media director had denied to further comment on the matter.
