ISLAMABAD, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Omar Ayub believes the Indian conspiracies against Kashmir Premier League (KPL) has made the inaugural event even more successful, before it’s launch, saying the tournament was a golden chance for the Kashmiri players to showcase their talent.
“KPL has put the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at unrest and their (Board for Control of Cricket in India BCCI) conspiracies against the league has made it a big success even before its start,” he said at the sponsor unveiling ceremony of the KPL team Muzaffarabad Tigers here at a local hotel.
Omar said the stalls installed outside the Muzaffarabad stadium would see a boom in the sales and the economic activity will also grow. “We roam freely in Azad Jammu and Kashmir whereas the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOK) is kept under fear and captivity by the Indian government. The Indian government can’t even hold a gulli danda tournament in IIOK,” he said.
He also lauded the Muzaffarabad Tigers Brand Ambassador Squash Legend Jahangir Khan and said he used to copy him while playing squash. “You (Jahangir) have inspired a lot of people and has ruled the squash courts,” he said.
“KPL will provide a golden chance for Kashmiri cricketers to come forward and display their talent. The government have and will always support KPL,” he said.
Omar said he would also try to sort out the matter of the six Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) centrally contracted players to be released for KPL.
Senator Faisal Javed who was also present on the occasion, said India has already made KPL successful. “Through KPL the local talent of Kashmir will get a platform to prove their mettle. As per the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan sports grounds were being constructed across the country so that the rural and grass-root talent can come to fore,” he said.
Faisal said the world would come to know the situations of IIOJK and AJK when KPL kicks off. “The Kashmir cause will get more importance through KPL and the day is not far when IIOK will see freedom,” he said.
He said the tourism sector would also see a positive impact through this league. “Former South Africa batsman Herschelle Gibbs has unearthed the Indian conspiracy against KPL. The Modi government is bringing the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideology in cricket,” he said.
It may be mentioned here that Gibbs had accused the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of “trying to prevent” him and other foreign from participating in the inaugural KPL.
He said Imran Khan was playing the role of Kashmir’s ambassador in front the whole world. “The majority vote which the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) bagged in the AJK elections was because of the Prime Minister’s ideology. We will fight for the right of Kashmir until it gets freedom,” he said.
Muzaffarabad Tigers CEO Arshad Khan Tanoli, KPL Chairman Arif Malik, Squash Legend Jahangir Khan were also present on the occasion and the sponsors were unveiled in the ceremony.
