Dire need to start women players development program: Dr Firdous

Lahore – Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that there is a dire need for Lahore Qalandars to start the women players development program.

Dr Firdous said this while talking to the reporters during her visit to Lahore Qalandars High Performance Centre on Tuesday, where she not only inspected thoroughly the entire facility of Qalandars for their players but also played cricket with complete preparation. She lauded and congratulated Lahore Qalandars CEO Atif Rana and Director Aqib Javed for providing one of the best platforms to the youth of the country adding that the Qalandars High Performance Centre is also state-of-the-art facility for the youngsters, where they are learning and sharpening their skills and also serving the PSL franchise and the country in the best possible manner. Dr Firdous also urged Lahore Qalandars CEO Atif Rana to provide such a great platform and facilities to women cricketers of the country as well. “Starting the women players development program is the dire need of the hour as it will help our girls further excel in this particular field. I also assure the Qalandars of government’s all-out support in this regard.”

She urged the young players to come, learn and improve their skills in the Lahore Qalandars High Performance Centre and serve the country at higher level. “I am also very glad to see the standard of High Performance Centre, which is not less than England, New Zealand and South Africa and I am hopeful that by training our youth at such centres, we can transform them into future cricket stars.” Speaking on the occasion, Qalandars CEO Atif Rana said that they have provided all the best available facilities to youth of the country under the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan. “The young cricketers have been learning well here under the highly qualified coaches and trainers with the best gym and training facilities.

There is also no dearth of talent in women cricket and I assure Dr Firdous of starting women players development program soon,” he added.

Director Aqib Javed said that the Lahore Qalandars’ trained players are not only performing well in the top national and international cricketing events but also serving the country well by excelling for the national team against the best in the business.
