AHMEDABAD Oct 11 (Online): National team captain Babar Azam issued a bold statement on social media after the historic victory against Sri Lanka in the World Cup.
Yesterday, in the match played at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad, Pakistan achieved the target of 345 runs given by Sri Lanka for the loss of only 4 wickets, achieving the biggest total in the 48-year history of the World Cup with 10 balls to spare.
The highlight of Pakistan’s batting was the magnificent centuries of Abdullah Shafiq, who played his first match in the World Cup, and wicketkeeper Muhammad Rizwan, thanks to which the green shirts successfully achieved such a big target, and Muhammad Rizwan was declared man of the match for his excellent batting.
Former Indian cricketers Virender Sehwag, Irfan Pathan and Wasim Jaffer also praised the batting of Muhammad Rizwan and Abdullah Shafiq and congratulated Pakistan on their great success.
After the match, when the national team captain Babar Azam came to the ground to meet the players, he was happy to meet Mohammad Rizwan and he happily picked up Mohammad Rizwan in a hug.
Later, Babar Azam wrote in a statement on social media that pat on the back of my boys who never said no. Mohammad Rizwan and Abdullah Shafique laid the foundation for the win after some dangerous bowling.
