LAHORE Oct 11 (Online): Former Pakistan captain, Shahid Afridi has shared details of his recent interaction with Captain Babar Azam ahead of the all-important 2023 World Cup match against arch-rivals India on Saturday, October 14 in Ahmedabad.
In a recent interview with a local media channel, Shahid Afridi revealed that he had a meaningful conversation with Babar Azam after the team’s recent victory.
Shahid Afridi said that I spoke to Babar Azam last night and congratulated him on the win.
I told him to be confident as he is a big match player. I backed him to score big in the upcoming matches.
The former all-rounder acknowledged Babar’s recent setback in one match, but maintained a positive view of his potential.
Shahid Afridi said, “When Babar replied to my message, he also looked positive and wanted to do well”. Notably, the Men in Green have won their opening two matches of the 2023 World Cup against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka.
