ISLAMABAD, Dec 05 (APP): Bangladesh Women’s U19 staged a strong comeback in the five-match T20 series, leveling it 1-1 after defeating Pakistan Women’s U19 by three wickets. They successfully chased the 81-run target with six balls to spare at the Cox’s Bazar Academy Ground on Friday afternoon.
According to details, the third match of the series will be played on Sunday at the same venue, with the coin toss scheduled for 11:30am PKT.
For Bangladesh, opening batter Sumaiya Akter Suborna top-scored with 32 off 38 balls, hitting one four and staying at the crease until the 17th over to anchor the innings. After a 29-run second-wicket partnership between Sumaiya and Achena Jannat Emanta (9 off 23 balls), Bangladesh suddenly collapsed to 36-4 in 10.1 overs.
Farzana Yeasmin Medha then combined with Sumaiya to take the score to 63 before Pakistan struck three times in overs 16 to 18, reducing Bangladesh to 70-7. With 11 runs needed off the last two overs, Sadia Akter (13 not out off 10 balls) guided her team home, hitting two crucial fours along with singles from herself and Jarin Tasnem Labonno.
For Pakistan, Memoona Khalid and Aleesa Mukhtiar picked up two wickets apiece, while Rozina Akram, Mahnoor Zeb, and Shahar Bano claimed one wicket each.
Earlier, Pakistan posted 80-7 in their 20 overs. Komal Khan’s 28 off 42 balls, coming in during the second over, provided stability as she stayed at the crease for 18.3 overs. She added 31 runs for the second wicket with opening batter Ravail Farhan (15 off 31 balls, one four). Later, Zoofishan Ayyaz contributed 17 off 27 balls, adding 28 runs with Komal before Bangladesh struck back.
Habiba Islam Pinky turned the game with a brilliant spell, taking 4-17, including three wickets in the 17th over, which derailed Pakistan’s innings from 66-5 to 70-7. Otoshi Mojumder and Jarin Tasnem Labonno picked up one wicket each. Habiba was declared Player of the Match for her outstanding performance.
