Babar Azam pays tribute to Lata Mangeshkar

ISLAMABAD – February 7 (ONLINE): Pakistan men’s cricket team’s captain Babar Azam on Monday paid tribute to ever loved Indian legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, who passed away Sunday.

“End of a golden era. Her magical voice and legacy will continue to live in the hearts of millions worldwide” the Pakistan captain wrote in a tweet on Monday.

Babar termed Lata Mangeshkar as ‘an unparraleled icon’ and wished for her eternal peace.

India’s widely loved playback singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away at a Mumbai hospital on Sunday, falling victim to Covid-19. She was 92.

Ms Mangeshkar was admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital in January after testing positive for the deadly virus.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry and Opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif expressed sorrow over the passing of Subcontinent’s music icon.

“With the death of Lata Mangeshkar the Subcontinet has lost one of the truly great singers the world has known” Prime Minister Imran Khan wrote on twitter Sunday.

“Listening to her songs has given so mucch pleasure to so many people all over the world” he further wrote.

“In the passing of Lata Mangeshkar, the world of music has lost a singing legend who mesmerized generations with her melodious voice.” Opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif wrote in his tweet on Sunday.

“The people of my generation grew up listening to her beautiful songs that will remain part of our memory. May she rest in peace” he said.
