Peshawar, August 22 (ONLINE): Altafur Rahman, a disabled table tennis player, who won bronze medal in the recently held Islamic Solidarity Games in Turkia and enlightened the country and nation at international level, paid a special visit to the Paraplegic Center in Hayatabad Peshawar where he had been admitted for rehabilitation due to polio disability. He after rehabilitation remained volunteer of the center and emerged as a table tennis player from there.
It may be recalled that in the 5th International Islamic Solidarity Games 2022, which concluded last week in the Islamic Republic of Turkey, Altafur Rahman, representing Pakistan and a physically challenged young player affected by polio, won bronze medal in the table tennis game. Thus he enlightened the country and nation at the global level. However, upon his arrival to homeland, he paid a special visit to the Paraplegic Center Peshawar in his earliest on Monday.
On this occasion, a grand function was organized at the CPMR Hall of the Paraplegic Centre. The management of the center, staff members, students and the team of friends of paraplegics gave a warm welcome to Altafur Rehman on his marvelous achievement of and profusely garlanded him. The speakers also paid rich tributes to Altafur Rahman for his excellent performance in these international games.
While Altafur Rehman, in his remarks on this occasion, thanked the management of Paraplegic Center Peshawar and Friends of Paraplegics who always encouraged and supported him since the beginning and facilitated him in every way to achieve his obsessive goal of having fame in his sport. He said that the head and staff of the Paraplegic Center, with all their compassion, ever encouraged him in his game that was indeed indescribable and memorable moments for him.
Dr. Syed Mohammad Ilyas, CEO of the Center, in his remarks on this occasion, said that talented youth like Altafur Rehman is pride not only of us but of the entire nation.
“We will try our utmost best to create such opportunities for youth with disabilities in the future as well so that they can shine the name of the nation and the country and win more bronze and silver as well as gold medals.
Dr. Ilyas Syed added that he gives full assurance to emerging players like Altafur Rehman with maximum opportunities to show the essence of their abilities so that such talented youth could continue to participate in international level sports.
